The Marathi film 'Dashami' is releasing in theatres on October 23. It is produced and directed by Yogesh Pandurang Bhosale. The film asks that Ravana met his end and Mahishasura was slain, but what of the injustice and adharma of today? Who will stand up against it, and who will destroy it? The film says it comes with a direct answer to this question.
Actor Gauri Ingawale's 'Durga avatar' in the film's song 'Chandika Ho' is drawing attention. In the song, Gauri will be seen in red attire, with a kumkum tilak on her forehead, a garland of cowrie shells around her neck, a piercing gaze, and in her hand a flame lit with resolve to fight adharma.
The song promises a stirring mix of stree shakti, the fight against injustice and the awakening of Adishakti. It has been written and composed by Suresh Pandit, and sung by Jasraj Joshi.
Through Gauri Ingawale's look, the film puts forward the idea that Durga is not merely a worshipped power but also a force that stands up against injustice. Her fierce, enigmatic and powerful presence in the song heightens curiosity about the story of 'Dashami'.
Besides Gauri Ingawale, the film stars Makarand Anaspure, Vijay Nikam, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prasanna Ketkar, Devendra Gaikwad, Sham Mashalkar and Raj Kundan. South star Ravi Prakash will also be seen in an important role.
The film is being released on the occasion of Vijayadashami. It links the traditional idea of the 'victory of good over evil' with today's social realities. 'Dashami' is therefore presented as more than a thrilling entertainer, with a message of raising one's voice against injustice and giving fresh strength to stree shakti.
