Chandrapur police seize 246 g of suspected ganja from 69-year-old's home in Bhivapur ward
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against Pandurang Gangadhar Banalwar after the DB squad seized suspected ganja worth about Rs 4,920.

The DB squad of Chandrapur city police seized 246 grams of a substance resembling ganja from a house near Nurani Masjid in Bhivapur ward on the evening of October 8, 2026. Police put the approximate market value of the seized material at Rs 4,920. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, against Pandurang Gangadhar Banalwar, 69, a resident of the area near Nurani Masjid in Bhivapur ward, Chandrapur. Chandrapur city police are investigating the case further.
According to police sources, Assistant Police Inspector Krunal Ramteke was patrolling the area with the DB squad on October 8, 2026, when an informer passed on confidential information that Banalwar was bringing ganja to the house he lives in and selling it secretly.
After the information was verified, the station house officer was informed in advance and formal permission was taken from the sub-divisional police officer. Government panch witnesses, a photographer and a person with a weighing scale were then called. Around evening, the police team raided the accused's house near Nurani Masjid in Bhivapur ward.
As required under the NDPS Act, the accused was served a notice and the house was searched thoroughly in front of the panch witnesses. The entire search was carried out in their presence. A plastic bag kept on the platform in the house's courtyard was found to contain a ganja-like intoxicating substance in the form of dried green leaves, flowers, stalks and seeds.
When the contents were weighed in front of the panch witnesses, the bag held 246 grams of ganja, with an approximate market value of Rs 4,920. Police sealed and seized the entire consignment in front of the panch witnesses.
On the complaint of Assistant Police Inspector Krunal Ramteke, a case has been registered at Chandrapur City Police Station against the accused Pandurang Banalwar under Sections 8(a) and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985, for illegally keeping ganja for sale. Police Constable Javed Siddiqui is conducting the further investigation.
