A 38-year-old private driver was killed in Nashik's Dwarka area after being struck on the head with a stone. The attack is said to be linked to a minor quarrel that broke out while he was drinking with friends near Hotel Courtyard in the Dwarka locality. The deceased has been identified as Vitthal Nana Pagare, 38, who lived behind Mundada Electric Bike Shop in Dwarka.

Mumbai Naka police began an investigation immediately and have detained two to three suspects for questioning.

According to information available, Pagare was a private driver by profession. At around 9.30 pm on Thursday, the 8th, he was drinking with a few friends at home. In an inebriated state, a heated quarrel suddenly broke out among them over some matter. The quarrel escalated, and the suspects are alleged to have struck Pagare on the head with a stone in anger. They then fled the spot.

After the attack, Pagare lay covered in blood and no help reached him through the night. The incident came to light at around 10.30 am on Friday, the 9th, when his nephew Nilesh Bhamre reached his house. Bhamre rushed him to the District Government Hospital, but doctors declared him dead before he could be admitted.

On receiving news of the incident, a team from Mumbai Naka police station reached the spot. Police began their investigation at the scene under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Shrinivas Deshmukh of Mumbai Naka police station. Preliminary information is that the murder resulted from a quarrel during the drinking session. Police then detained two to three suspects within a few hours.

Police are questioning the suspects strictly. For now, an accidental death entry has been made in the case. A formal case of murder will be registered once the post-mortem report is received from the doctors.
