Chandrapur district collector Vasumana Pant and Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Pulkit Singh carried out a one-day visit to Jivati taluka in Chandrapur district. During the visit, the two officials directly inspected work related to health, education and village development.

The visit began at the primary health centre in Shenagaon, where the collector and the CEO took stock of the Mata Sakhi programme. They toured the centre's different departments to review the health facilities and services on offer. The collector also spoke with the Mata Sakhis, asked about their work, and advised them to work more effectively for the health of mothers and children.

The officials then visited the homes of two children from the Shenagaon gram panchayat area who were not attending school. They spoke directly with the children and their parents to find out why the children had dropped out. The parents were told about the importance of regular schooling for their children. Teachers concerned were clearly instructed to take the steps needed to bring such children back to school, to stay in regular contact with their parents, and to ensure that no child is deprived of education.

The collector and the CEO also inspected a large library under construction in Shenagaon, and visited the Zilla Parishad model school building to review the facilities available and the work underway there.

The team then went to Lambori gram panchayat. This village is one of five gram panchayats adopted by Tata Motors under its CSR, or corporate social responsibility, programme. They inspected a health camp under way there and reviewed the various activities being carried out. The officials also visited the health sub-centre in Lambori, asked about the health facilities available and heard about local difficulties.

At the end of the visit, a review was held at the panchayat samiti in Jivati of work under the Aspirational Taluka programme. The officials said all departments would need to coordinate with each other to properly implement schemes related to health, education and village development, and to ensure that people actually benefit from government schemes.

The visit was also attended by Rajura sub-divisional officer Ravindra Mane, Jivati tehsildar Rupali Mogarkar and gat vikas officer Laxminarayan Dodke, along with several other officials and staff from the departments concerned.
