Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Rahul Gandhi should spend his life in a mock Parliament, and accused Congress of holding its Delhi rally on the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.

A large protest was held in Delhi on Sunday by the INDIA bloc. Leaders of the ruling side then began targeting Rahul Gandhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made sharp remarks against the Congress leader.

Shah said that if Rahul Gandhi wants to become Prime Minister, he should spend his whole life in a mock Parliament, because his turn to become Prime Minister in the real Parliament will never come. Shah made the remark in the context of a mock "impeachment proceeding" staged by the INDIA bloc against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to Shah, Rahul Gandhi has been facing continuous defeats in elections for the past 15 years. He also said his mother Sonia Gandhi's dream of seeing her son as Prime Minister has not been fulfilled so far. Speaking at an event, Shah said Rahul Gandhi should give up hope of becoming Prime Minister, and that his prospects of becoming Prime Minister are confined to the mock Parliament.

Shah also targeted the Congress over 1984. He alleged that the Congress rally in Delhi was like rubbing salt on the wounds of families of victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. Shah said that on November 1, 1984, the Congress had thousands of innocent Sikhs massacred in Delhi, and that Rahul Gandhi scheduled a rally in Delhi on the same date. Shah condemned the Congress for holding a rally on the day of the massacre. He said that because of this insensitivity of Rahul Gandhi, people would get only hatred, not love, from his "shop of love".

Shah claimed that the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reopened cases against guilty Congress leaders and sent them to jail. According to him, compensation and jobs were also given to the families of victims.

Shah also alleged that Sikh organisations and the BJP had appealed against holding the rally, yet Rahul Gandhi decided to hold it on Sunday. He said traders in Delhi had also requested that the rally be held after Diwali, as it was feared to cause heavy losses to business. According to Shah, Rahul Gandhi nevertheless wanted to hold the rally on the day of the Sikh massacre.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri led a BJP march in West Delhi against the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. The march was meant to convey the message "Save democracy, remove anarchy" and to show solidarity with the families of riot victims.

In a post on the social media platform X, Puri shared memories of 1984. He wrote that his parents were in Delhi at the time and that some of their Hindu friends had sheltered them in their home. Puri called this an example of humanity and brotherhood. He said the massacre was not the tragedy of one community alone but a wound on the nation's history that can never be forgotten. According to Puri, the biggest lesson of this painful history is that humanity must be protected, victims must get justice and national unity must be strengthened.
