Sharad Pawar said in Baramati that the Centre should have decided on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in time, and that he will tour drought-hit Madha taluka.
The Centre should have taken a timely decision on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, senior leader Sharad Pawar said in Baramati. He criticised the government, saying that because it did not decide, the Opposition parties have had to come together and hold a protest.
Pawar also made clear that MP Supriya Sule and other leaders will take part in the Delhi protest on behalf of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar).
The political climate in the country has heated up over the Election Commission issue. At the same time, the drought in Maharashtra has put rural areas in serious distress. Against this backdrop, Pawar has given priority to the issues of water, fodder and drought relief in the state.
Pawar said his focus at present is on the drought situation in the state and the water and fodder that farmers need. Farmers badly need water and fodder for their livestock, he said.
Pawar also spoke on the proposed AI data centre at Ujani. He said the AI project will not necessarily reduce water, but water resources must be used carefully. He also drew attention to the fact that farmers urgently need water.
Pawar said he will visit the Dudhali area of Madha taluka to see the drought situation first-hand. Local MLAs will accompany him. He said he will meet affected people directly, understand their needs and try to get them the help they require. He has held meetings in Delhi and with the Chief Minister on the matter.
At present, 135 tankers are supplying water to 139 villages in Solapur district. Madha taluka alone has 110 tankers running. Pawar said these figures are enough to show how severe the drought is.
Nationalist Congress Party president and former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will set out on a drought inspection tour on Monday. The drought in the state is turning grave, and the problems of fodder for livestock and drinking water are also growing.
On the tour, he will visit Tulsi village in Madha taluka of Solapur district and review the situation. Pawar's view is that it is important to give relief to farmers and rural people in distress. He has said he will also visit Bhoom-Paranda in Solapur and Dharashiv.
