Three workers were slightly injured in a boiler blast at Kalmeshwar MIDC, and a plastic packaging warehouse caught fire in Lakadganj the next morning.

Two industrial accidents have occurred in quick succession in Nagpur district. In one, a factory boiler exploded, and in the other, a warehouse caught a major fire. The incidents, reported in Nagpur on November 1, 2026, have again raised concern over safety and emergency arrangements in factories.

The first accident took place at around 9:30 pm on Saturday at Kalmeshwar MIDC. A steam boiler at Chemfield Company burst suddenly with a loud blast. The blast was reportedly so powerful that part of the factory wall collapsed.

Three workers, Neeraj Yadav, Ravi Nishad and 18-year-old June Bandsing, suffered minor injuries. All three were rushed to a private hospital, where they were given initial treatment. They were discharged the same night. No lives were lost.

An early estimate suggests that a sudden fluctuation in temperature could cause a boiler to burst. However, the actual cause has not yet been established. Kalmeshwar police reached the spot and have begun an investigation.

The second incident occurred on Sunday morning at the Lakadganj Small Industries Estate in Nagpur. A major fire broke out in a warehouse storing plastic packaging (bardana). The warehouse reportedly held large quantities of plastic raw material and finished goods.

The stored goods were highly flammable, so the fire spread quickly and dense clouds of black smoke covered the surrounding area. Six to seven fire engines were sent to the spot, and firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.

Firefighters are continuously spraying water to contain the flames. They are also trying to stop the fire from reaching neighbouring factories and other industrial units. There are several plastic-related units nearby, which has made the firefighting harder.

After the two incidents in a short span, industrial safety arrangements in Nagpur district are again under scrutiny. Questions are being raised about how machinery is maintained in factories, what fire-prevention measures are in place, how flammable material is stored, and how effective emergency arrangements are in factories and warehouses.

The exact causes of both accidents and a full assessment of property damage are yet to be completed.
