Gold and silver prices rose sharply on November 4, days before Dhanteras on November 6, according to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association.

Buyers of gold and silver have found no relief just before Dhanteras, with prices of both metals climbing sharply in the bullion market. Dhanteras will be celebrated on November 6 this year, and the rally ahead of it is drawing attention.

According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), both gold and silver recorded a big jump on November 4. Gold of 24 carat rose by Rs 4,046 to reach Rs 1.42 lakh per 10 grams. Silver did not lag behind: a kilogram became costlier by Rs 9,708 and settled at Rs 1.86 lakh.

Today, Thursday, November 5, the IBJA rate for 24-carat gold is Rs 1,41,622 per 10 grams. Silver is priced at Rs 1,86,133 per kilogram.

The IBJA has also released the morning rates for other carats, per 10 grams: 22-carat gold at Rs 141055, 20-carat gold at Rs 129726, 18-carat gold at Rs 106217 and 14-carat gold at Rs 82849.

Among cities, the gold rate today is given as Rs 141622 per 10 grams in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalgaon, Sangli and Baramati.

The gold and silver markets have seen big swings throughout this year. On December 31, 2025, just before the start of 2026, gold was Rs 1.33 lakh per 10 grams. It is now Rs 1.42 lakh, meaning gold has become costlier by about Rs 9,000 so far this year.

Silver has moved the other way. On December 31, 2025, it was Rs 2.30 lakh per kg and has now fallen to Rs 1.86 lakh. Silver has thus become cheaper by about Rs 44,000 this year.

According to experts, gold touched its all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh per 10 grams on January 29 this year. On the same day, silver also hit an all-time high of Rs 3.86 lakh per kg.

With festivals coming up, customers are heading to the bullion market. The changes in prices are being seen as very significant from an investment point of view.
