More than 4,000 students, parents and residents made clay fort models at Saras Baug on Sunday, an activity recognised by the Book of World Records.
Pune, November 3, 2026: An event named 'Killotsav 2026 - My Heritage, My Pride' was held at Saras Baug in Pune on Sunday, November 1. More than 4,000 people took part, including students, parents and residents of the city. All of them made small models of historic forts of Maharashtra using natural clay. The Book of World Records has recognised the activity.
The event was organised by the Artwala Foundation and the Aarambh Foundation in association with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The record has been registered in the names of all three: the Artwala Foundation, the Aarambh Foundation and the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Representatives of the India division of the Book of World Records were present at the site. They observed and verified the entire activity. The recognition of the record was then announced in the presence of corporation officials, organisers and participants.
The aim of the initiative was to connect children and young people with the heritage of Maharashtra's forts through hands-on work, and to acquaint them with the history linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Each participant was given natural clay and asked to use their imagination to make a small model of a fort.
Pune Mayor Manjusha Deepak Nagpure and Deputy Mayor Parshuram Wadekar were present at the event. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Garden Department) Ashok Ghorpade also attended.
The PMC supported the event through its garden department. Other departments, including IT, security, electrical, solid waste management, fire brigade, education and health, also contributed. The entire event was held under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
Representatives of both foundations and PMC officials were involved in planning the event and carrying it out on the ground. Ravindra Jagdale conducted the programme on stage.
