Silver fell from Rs 1.94 lakh to Rs 1.81 lakh a kg this week and 24-carat gold eased Rs 1,576, as a stronger dollar and profit-booking by big investors weighed on prices.

Gold and silver prices fell sharply in the bullion market this week. According to India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) data, silver dropped by Rs 13,071 this week, taking a kilogram of the metal from Rs 1.94 lakh to Rs 1.81 lakh.

Gold also softened. The price of 24-carat gold fell by Rs 1,576 per 10 grams, slipping from Rs 1.41 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh.

Over the whole month, the dollar has been strengthening in the international market and big investors have booked profits at high levels. Both factors had a major impact on prices. Silver has fallen by Rs 39,485 and gold by Rs 8,084 this month. At the start of the month, on October 1, 2026, silver was priced at Rs 2.20 lakh a kg and gold at Rs 1.48 lakh per 10 grams.

On Sunday, November 1, 24-carat gold was at Rs 1,40,054 per 10 grams, according to IBJA. Silver was recorded at Rs 1,81,344 per kg the same day.

IBJA's rates for the other carats, all per 10 grams, are: 22-carat gold at Rs 139,493, 20-carat at Rs 128,289, 18-carat at Rs 105,041 and 14-carat at Rs 81,932.

Among cities, the price of 10 grams of gold was given as Rs 140,054 in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nagpur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalgaon, Sangli and Baramati alike.

Experts advise buyers not to purchase gold and silver in one go but to buy in instalments. They suggest making some purchases now and the rest at intervals of 15 to 20 days. On investment, their advice is not to think in terms of one or two months when putting money into gold and silver, but to invest with a horizon of at least six months to one year.
