Nagbhid police have registered a case against three people on the charge of extracting money by luring people with cheap electric scooters. It is alleged that Rs 2,66,918 was collected from people in all. According to police, a showroom was opened in the Bhagat Singh Chowk area, where about 300 people paid money in the name of booking and down payment, but none of them received delivery of a vehicle even after paying.

The matter came to light after a complaint reached the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Brahmapuri. The complaint was investigated and a case was then registered at Nagbhid police station.

The suspects named in the case are Dr Afroz Bashirkhan Pathan (resident of Lakhani, Bhandara district), Sanjay Asaram Kuthe (resident of Laxminagar Sulezari, Nagbhid tehsil) and Vikrant Nandkishor Gajpure (resident of Bhagat Singh Chowk, Nagbhid, Chandrapur district).

Police said the complainant, Suresh Gajanan Raut (resident of Moushi, Nagbhid tehsil), had submitted a written complaint to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Brahmapuri. According to the complaint, the accused conspired and, between July 12, 2024 and March 12, 2025, rented Vikrant Gajpure's tin shed in the Bhagat Singh Chowk area of Nagbhid. A showroom and office selling electric scooters was started there under the name "TEHPG PRIVATE LIMITED AND ENTERPRISES, F.Y.R. EV SHOWROOM".

The complaint says the accused Sanjay Kuthe and Vikrant Gajpure were placed in the showroom as managers. Through them, the complainant and other customers were enticed with an offer of two-wheeler moped scooters of the "F.Y.R. EV" company at a low price under a scheme said to be running in the market.

It is alleged that, to win people's trust, Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500 was taken from each person in the name of booking vehicles and Rs 7,500 to Rs 10,000 in the name of down payment. In this way, a total of Rs 2,66,918 was collected from the complainant and about 300 other people.

According to the complaint, despite taking the money, the accused did not give the complainant and the other witnesses any electric moped scooter. It is also alleged that the accused misappropriated the money collected and the finance amounts among themselves. Police said the investigation found that people had been cheated.

With the permission of senior officers and on the basis of the inquiry report, a case has been registered at Nagbhid police station under Sections 3(5), 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police Sub-Inspector Anil Welhal Dongarwar is conducting further in-depth investigation into the case.
