Star Air's flight service between Nagpur and Kishangarh (Ajmer) has been discontinued. Even though Nagpur is a centre, new air services are not being started, and those that were already running are closing one after another. The closure is being seen as a major setback for Nagpur passengers who travelled to Ajmer and the surrounding region via Kishangarh airport.

With the service shut, passengers' options for a direct flight to Ajmer have become limited. With services stopping one after another, the Sub-Capital is now down to just 12 air services.

According to the information available, Star Air has decided to stop the direct Kishangarh flight and start a Nagpur-Pune-Kishangarh service instead. This means Nagpur passengers will first have to go to Pune and catch a connecting flight from there to reach Kishangarh.

Star Air had started flights from Nagpur to several cities, but many of these services have been discontinued over time. After the flights to Chennai, Belagavi, Aurangabad, Nashik and Lucknow, the Kishangarh service has now also been shut.

Passengers say that when a flight to a new city starts, it raises hopes that Nagpur's connectivity will be strengthened. But when the service is discontinued after some time, it affects passengers' plans.

At present, about 10 domestic and 2 international air services operate from Nagpur airport. The 10 domestic services are to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Nanded and Goa. The 2 international services are to Doha and Sharjah. To reach other cities or go abroad, passengers have to rely on connecting flights from Delhi and Mumbai.

After the operation of Nagpur airport passed to the GMR Group, passengers had hoped that the number of air services and destinations would grow along with airport facilities. But passengers' expectations of new air services and direct connectivity to different cities have not been met so far. There is now talk that the deadline Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis set for the airport may remain only on paper.

Nagpur's international air service has also suffered a major blow along with the domestic routes. Qatar Airways has announced that it will temporarily suspend its Nagpur-Doha-Nagpur service from October 22 to March 29, 2027.
