The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a fresh agitation at the Jantar Mantar ground in Delhi from October 10. In view of this, the railways has cancelled several important Delhi-bound trains. Police have also reportedly sent notices to activists.

It is said that, to avoid a law-and-order problem in Delhi, Indian Railways has decided to cancel several important mail and express trains arriving at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin stations between 4 am and 2 pm on October 10.

CJP leaders have announced the protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. Students from across the country, including Maharashtra, had begun leaving for Delhi when the railways cancelled these trains. In some districts of Maharashtra, notices are being sent to key CJP activists, and police are detaining some people.

The cancelled trains include the Rajdhani Express from Mumbai to Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, Lucknow Mail, Gorakhdham Express, AC Express, Prayagraj Express, Shivganga Express and the Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express.

The railways will refund passengers booked on these trains at its counters. IRCTC will refund those who booked tickets online. Two days before the rail roko protest in Delhi, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had issued an alert across the country over the rail roko agitation.

Earlier, the Cockroach Janta Party's large protest at Jantar Mantar had provoked widespread public anger. Thousands of students and young people had taken to the streets, and the area around Parliament had turned into a virtual cantonment. This time too, students and Gen-Z organisations from across the country are likely to reach Delhi. Delhi Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have therefore put very tight security in place at Sansad Marg, Jantar Mantar and the Delhi borders.

For security reasons, Delhi Police have ordered 57 Delhi Metro stations to be kept closed from 9 pm. A large number of CCTV cameras have been installed in the Jantar Mantar area, surveillance has been stepped up and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been imposed.

Despite the administrative restrictions and the train cancellations, the Cockroach Janta Party remains firm on its protest. This has raised fears of a major confrontation between the protesters and police in Delhi.
