Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students Association, has been detained from Jantar Mantar in Delhi. She had called for an agitation at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Opposition parties across the country, including the Congress, have launched a campaign against Gyanesh Kumar. The opposition parties are preparing for a protest at Jantar Mantar on Friday, October 2, which has raised the likelihood of a political flare-up in the country.

After being detained by Delhi Police, Bora expressed anger. She said, "What you have done to the country, the country will never forgive you for it. Today you are trying to suppress the voice of democracy by stuffing us into buses. But a day will come when you will have to detain two hundred, two thousand, two lakh, 20 lakh people, and even after that you will have to keep trying to protect Gyanesh Kumar and the other election commissioners. But the betrayal you have committed, the theft, what Gyanesh Kumar has done to the people of this country, will not be forgiven and will not be forgotten."

Trinamool Congress's Mahua Moitra wrote on X on October 2, 2026 that Bora had been detained at Jantar Mantar. She also wrote, "Salute from the heart to you Neha".

Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is preparing for a protest in Mumbai. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has demanded Kumar's resignation and announced an agitation if he does not quit. Earlier, Dipke had said, "The Cockroach Janta Party's agitation is beginning. We will agitate across the country. After that we will sit at Jantar Mantar, and this agitation will continue until Gyanesh Kumar resigns. Gyanesh Kumar is a traitor. The 2025 SIR list must be cancelled immediately. The new election officer who is appointed must be transparent. Otherwise all the 13 crore voters whose names have been deleted will come out on the streets." The warning was issued on behalf of the CJP.

CJP leader Saurav Das has also appealed to people across the country, including young people, to come to Shivaji Park. He said, "The youth are with us. Everyone should come to Shivaji Park at 4 pm. We are going to hold a peaceful agitation. Agitations have already begun across the country."

Meanwhile, police and paramilitary forces have tightened security at Jantar Mantar in view of the protests by several political parties. Delhi Police has imposed Section 163 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the New Delhi area. Delhi Police say no kind of demonstration is permitted anywhere in the area. For now, entry into Jantar Mantar is strictly prohibited for everyone.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been commenting continually on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
