Nagpur: 20-year-old booked under POCSO for alleged assault on minor at Nandanvan cafe, absconding

A case of assault on a minor girl has come to light in the Nandanvan police station area of Nagpur. It is alleged that a 20-year-old youth lured the girl to a cafe and assaulted her there. He is also alleged to have threatened her afterwards, saying she would face serious consequences if she told anyone. Police have registered a case on the victim's complaint and are investigating further.

According to the information available, the accused is Sameer Sheikh, a resident of Sakkardara. He came to know the victim through a friend of the girl. As per the allegation, he assaulted the girl on July 29, 2026, at the 'F Zone' cafe in the Nandanvan area. He then allegedly threatened that it would end badly for her if she told anyone about it.

Because of the threat and fear, the girl stayed silent for some time. But the accused continued to harass her. When this did not stop, the girl finally told her father everything.

It is alleged that on October 4 the accused then went to the victim's house. He is accused of pressuring the girl to take a test with a pregnancy kit. After this, the family took the help of a social organisation and went to the Nandanvan police station to file a complaint.

Police have registered a case under various sections, including the POCSO Act. The suspected accused is absconding and police are searching for him. He has not been arrested so far.

Assistant Police Inspector Umakant Rathod of Nandanvan police station said police are also questioning the role of the cafe in the matter. Several questions are now being raised over the incident at the cafe. Police are investigating the entire matter and efforts to trace the accused are continuing.
