Five women, including a minor student, molested in separate incidents in Nagpur
Police in Nagpur have registered cases in five molestation complaints, and a Chhindwara doctor has been arrested on a rape charge.
Nagpur: Five women, including a minor student, have been molested in separate incidents in the city.
A 15-year-old student went to a public Ganesh mandal in her neighbourhood to offer prayers on the morning of September 23. As she was returning home after the puja, 19-year-old Vishesh Tembhre called out to her on the way and stopped her. He asked her to come to his house to collect prasad. After taking her home, Vishesh behaved inappropriately with her. Kalmana police have registered a case against him under the POCSO Act and for molestation.
In another case, a 19-year-old student met Rahul Dhurve (23) of Selu, Wardha, at a wedding. The two then began talking on mobile phones and also held video calls. During a video call, Rahul recorded the screen without her knowledge. He created a fake Instagram account in her name and uploaded information about her on it. Her brother found out, after which she filed a complaint at Beltarodi police station. Police have registered a case against Rahul for molestation and under the IT Act.
A 23-year-old woman works at a cosmetics shop under the Tehsil police station limits. While she was going to work, the accused, Sunny Gaur (32) of Jyoti Nagar, followed her. He also kept sending her requests on Instagram. She told her family and filed a complaint at Tehsil police station, but later withdrew it. Gaur then began following and harassing her again. She filed a fresh complaint at Tehsil police station, and police have registered a molestation case.
In a fourth case, a 25-year-old married woman, who is on bad terms with her husband, has complained that her 63-year-old father-in-law behaved inappropriately with her while she was alone at home and demanded sexual favours. She then went to her parents' home. On September 30 she filed a complaint at Jaripatka police station. Police have registered a molestation case and begun an investigation.
In the fifth case, a woman who works at a private hospital was riding a moped to work when the driver of a car, registration number MH/31/FE/1999, hit it from behind. The driver and a woman accompanying him abused her and threatened to get her removed from her job. They also chased her for a considerable distance. She filed a complaint at Sitabuldi police station. Police have registered a case of molestation, intimidation and damage to a vehicle, and begun an investigation.
Chhindwara doctor held for rape
Nagpur: A doctor from Chhindwara has raped a young woman on the promise of marriage. Sadar police have registered a case and arrested the accused doctor.
The accused is Sanjay Vishwas, 28, a resident of Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. According to the complaint of the 27-year-old woman, Sanjay is an Ayurvedic doctor. Sanjay and his family have long been close to the woman, and that is how she came to be friends with him. Sanjay held out the promise of marrying her, and on that pretext had been having sexual relations with her for the past two years. For some time he had been keeping his distance from her, and he then refused to marry her. She filed a complaint at Sadar police station. Police registered a rape case and arrested Sanjay.
