NAGPUR: The South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, has organised 'Brahmanad', a morning music session, at 6.30 am on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The programme will be held on the centre's premises and is free for all. It is being held again at the insistence of art lovers in Nagpur.
Noted Hindustani classical vocalist Vidushi Nandini Narendra Bedekar will give a special recital. Bedekar is one of the senior disciples of Gansaraswati Kishori Amonkar. For about 35 years, she trained in the classical music of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana under her guru's guidance.
She has performed at many reputed music festivals in India and abroad, and also contributes to music education. Through 'Brahmanad', music lovers will be able to enjoy classical music in the pleasant atmosphere of the morning.
Meanwhile, an exhibition and sale of wood sculptures has been organised on the centre's premises from October 11, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The exhibition will be held in the centre's old administrative building. After the Brahmanad programme ends, it will be inaugurated by Vidushi Nandini Bedekar and Ajit Saxena, a retired senior IRAS officer.
A severe storm some time ago had uprooted many trees on the centre's premises. Tribal wood artists from Chhattisgarh were invited to put the timber to creative use. The artists have made a variety of attractive works from the wood of the fallen trees.
The exhibition brings together environmental conservation, reuse and tribal craftsmanship. All the works on display will also be available for sale.
Asta Karlekar, director of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, has appealed to art lovers, students and citizens to attend the music session and the wood sculpture exhibition in large numbers.
