Even today, mention of Ramayana brings to many viewers' minds the face of Arun Govil in the guise of Lord Ram. A generation saw Lord Ram through his acting, and the role stayed with Indian audiences for good. Govil has now returned to the world of Ramayana, but this time not as Lord Ram. He will appear as Dasharatha, the King of Ayodhya and Lord Ram's father.

The makers of Namit Malhotra's Ramayana have released a special solo poster of Govil as King Dasharatha on social media. Govil is the only figure in the poster. He appears in royal attire, and his look conveys the grandeur, dignity and authority of the King of Ayodhya.

Sharing the poster, the makers highlighted Govil's special bond with Ramayana. They wrote, "For a generation, he brought Ram to life. Now he has returned to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dasharatha."

Govil, known across the country for playing Lord Ram, will now be seen as Ram's father, King Dasharatha. As audiences are getting this chance for the first time, his new look has drawn considerable attention. His Lord Ram is still remembered by viewers, and fans are curious to see him as Dasharatha.

In this Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Ram. Sai Pallavi is playing Sita, while Rocking Star Yash will play Ravana. Sunny Deol will play Hanuman and Ravi Dubey will play Lakshmana.

Ramayana is being produced under Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, in collaboration with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. It is a grand epic film to be released in two parts. The first part will release worldwide on November 5, 2026, and the second will reach audiences at Diwali 2027.

In India, the film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. It will also be shown in IMAX. Sony Pictures is responsible for distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions will distribute the film for the Hindi-speaking market.
