Humid, warm weather persists across Maharashtra after monsoon exit; Nagpur max at 32 degrees

Dry but humid conditions are likely across Maharashtra on Wednesday, with little chance of rain and Nagpur's maximum at about 32 degrees Celsius.

The monsoon has withdrawn from Maharashtra, but heat and humidity may persist in many areas on Wednesday, October 14, even though the weather is likely to remain dry. The chance of rain is low.

Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai are likely to feel hotter because of the moisture in the air. In Mumbai, humidity may cause discomfort under hazy sunshine and light clouds. The afternoon will feel hotter, while the morning and evening may bring some relief. Hot weather may also continue in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Palghar. People working outdoors have been advised to drink plenty of water and avoid strong sunlight.

In Pune, heat rather than rain is likely to dominate. Strong sunshine during the day may push up temperatures, while mornings and late evenings may remain relatively pleasant. Temperatures may vary across neighbouring areas because of local conditions. Mercury may also rise during the day in parts of Vidarbha.

In Nagpur, the temperature on October 14 has been recorded at about 24 degrees. The maximum is expected to be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 24 degrees Celsius. Sunrise will be at 5:53 am and sunset at 5:30 pm. Humidity has been recorded at 92 per cent and atmospheric pressure at 1015.

The city's Air Quality Index (AQI) stands at 161, which falls in the poor category. PM2.5 is at 60 and PM10 at 107. Sensitive people have been advised to avoid exposure to pollution.

Heat may persist in Amravati and Akola in Vidarbha. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded and Latur in Marathwada are likely to remain mostly dry. Konkan and Central Maharashtra will stay humid, with some local cloud movement possible.

To beat the heat, people are advised not to step out unnecessarily in the afternoon, to drink adequate water and to wear light clothing. For weather warnings, the latest district-level forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) may be consulted.
