Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Navi Mumbai city president Gajanan Kale has alleged that CIDCO plots in Sector 4 of Ghansoli have been unauthorisedly occupied. He also claimed that builders have opened offices on these plots and are extorting lakhs of rupees from customers in the name of "advance booking" of residential properties.

According to Kale, plot numbers 301, 307, 308 and 311 in CIDCO's Sector 04 have not yet been allotted to anyone. Even so, builders' offices are running there without authorisation. Booking offices have been set up there by Krishna Imperial and Srishti builders. Tin sheets and boards have been put up, and these builders are taking booking amounts from people, he said.

CIDCO's anti-encroachment squad has earlier demolished unauthorised constructions and offices in the Ghansoli and Talavali areas. However, activists have alleged that such unauthorised activity continues in many places. It has also been said that it has come to light that lakhs of rupees are being extorted from customers in unauthorised projects or in the name of advance booking of homes.

Kale asked why CIDCO, which runs bulldozers over the homes of the poor and project-affected people, appears silent here. He also pointed out that no action has yet been taken against CIDCO official Vinu Nair.

Kale said CIDCO and its officials are ignoring all this. He demanded that action be taken against these builders under the MRTP Act, and also against CIDCO official Nair. Kale, the MNS Navi Mumbai city president, expressed the opinion that someone is backing this matter.
