The monsoon has withdrawn from Maharashtra, and hot, dry weather is likely to continue across the state. Strong sunshine is expected in many parts on Tuesday, October 13, which may push up daytime temperatures.
Mumbai and the Konkan are expected to remain humid because of moisture coming in from the sea. Strong afternoon sun may make it uncomfortable for those stepping out. In Thane, Palghar and the rest of the Konkan too, it is necessary to keep an eye on local weather conditions.
Pune is expected to have mostly clear skies and little chance of rain. According to the available forecast, the maximum temperature in Pune's Lohegaon area could be around 35 degrees Celsius. Satara, Sangli and Solapur may also feel the heat in the afternoon.
The heat may be even more pronounced in some parts of Vidarbha. On October 12, the maximum temperature in Nagpur was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, while the mercury in Akola reached 37.9 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Amravati, Washim and Yavatmal also need to be watched. People who work outdoors in the afternoon should take special care.
After the monsoon's return, rain activity has declined over a large part of the state. The forecast available for Pune city mainly indicates clear skies. However, the weather will not be the same across Maharashtra. Those wanting to know the chances of rain or thunderstorms in a particular district should check the local forecast.
In hot weather, drink enough water, wear light cotton clothes and avoid staying out for long in the strong afternoon sun. Take special care of children and the elderly. For district-wise weather updates and warnings, check the latest bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
