A fire broke out at 'Elite Mobile Shop' in Gandhi Chowk, Mul, on Friday, October 9, causing heavy damage to the shop. The fire started between 9.30 am and 10 am. News of it spread quickly and caused panic in the area.

According to a preliminary estimate, a short circuit in the shop's electrical equipment may have started the fire. This is only a preliminary estimate. An inquiry into the actual cause is under way.

The fire spread so fast that within moments its fierce flames engulfed the entire shop. Expensive smartphones kept for sale, phones brought in for repair, valuables and other electronic accessories were burnt to ashes.

Realising the gravity of the situation, local residents acted promptly and informed the fire brigade and the police. Firefighters reached the spot in a vehicle as soon as they were alerted. With the help of local residents, they brought the fire fully under control.

Because of this timely action, the fire did not reach other shops and buildings nearby. Had it spread there, it could have posed a serious danger, but the neighbouring shops remained safe. No lives were lost and no one was injured.

The owner of the mobile shop is said to have suffered a financial loss of lakhs of rupees. The police reached the spot and drew up a panchnama. They are conducting a further detailed investigation into the cause of the fire and the total loss.
