The DP World India Golf Championship will be played at Delhi Golf Club this time. The tournament will run from October 15 to 18, with a prize purse of $4 million. Delhi Golf Club has been given the opportunity to host it.
The club is known as the home of Indian golf. About six decades ago, in 1965, it hosted the first Indian Open golf tournament, which was also its first international event. It has been known by that description since.
Several star golfers from around the world have confirmed their participation in the championship. Tickets for the tournament have started selling on the District by Zomato website.
World-class player Rory McIlroy and defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, along with several winners of various events, will put their skills on the line for a record prize purse. This has added to the appeal of the tournament.
It is said to be the strongest gathering of star players at any golf event held in India and Asia so far. Alongside several players who took part in the 2025 edition, major winners such as Aaron Rai, Ryan Fox, Patrick Reed and Justin Rose are also coming, which has further raised the standing of the tournament.
Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed are listed in the seeding list as former Masters winners. Current Open champion Ryan Fox, PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, and former US Open and Olympic champion Justin Rose have also been given prominent places.
Rory McIlroy, only the sixth player in golf history to complete the career Grand Slam by winning all the majors, has been given the top seeding. Defending champion Fleetwood, former Open champion Shane Lowry, former FedEx Cup winner Viktor Hovland and European Ryder Cup captain and former world number one Luke Donald follow him in the seeding list.
