Solapur to host ITF men's tennis tournament with $25,000 prize money from October 11

An international men's tennis tournament will begin in Solapur on October 11. The MSLTA-SDLTA ITF $25,000 prize money men's tennis tournament is being organised by the Solapur District Lawn Tennis Association (SDLTA). It has the approval of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA).

Held with the support of the Maharashtra government, the Solapur Municipal Corporation and the District Collector's office, the tournament will run from October 11 to 18. Matches will be played at the MSLTA tennis courts at the District Sports Complex in Solapur.

MSLTA honorary secretary Sundar Iyer said several top tennis players will take part. According to him, Indian players will get a chance to prove their ability at the international level and earn important ATP points and prize money. The main aim of the event is to give Indian tennis players a platform to climb the international rankings.

Karan Singh, Digvijay Pratap Singh, Siddharth Rawat, S. D. Prajwal Dev, Manish Sureshkumar and Dev Javia will play in the main draw. MSLTA joint secretary and tournament director Rajiv Desai said Arnav Paparkar and Anup Bangargi have been given wild cards for the main draw, while Prajwal Tiwari, Vansh Nandal and Mayand Tiwari have received wild cards for the qualifying rounds. Players from nine countries will take part: India, the United States, Tunisia, Japan, Thailand, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Sweden.

The winner will receive a trophy and 50 ATP points, while the runner-up will get a trophy and 30 ATP points. Semi-finalists will get 18 points, quarter-finalists 9 points, players knocked out in the round before that 5 points, and first-round players 1 ATP point.

As per the schedule, qualifying matches will be played on October 11 and 12. Main draw matches will be played between October 13 and 18. The inauguration will take place at 5 pm on October 12, performed by Solapur District Collector Dr S. Karthikeyan.

Neda Kazemi of Iran has been appointed ITF supervisor for the tournament. Leena Nageshkar of Pune will serve as assistant match supervisor, and Rajiv Desai will be tournament director. The referees appointed are Rohit Balgavi (Karnataka), Shailesh Tambe (Mumbai), Selvaraj Kotteswaran (Chennai), Rituraj Basant (Assam), Saibal Banerjee (Kolkata) and Karan Singh (Delhi).

The seeded players in the main draw are: 1. Garrett Johns (United States, 442), 2. Karan Singh (India, 483), 3. Aziz Ouakaa (Tunisia, 531), 4. Digvijay Pratap Singh (India, 551), 5. Siddharth Rawat (India, 654), 6. S. D. Prajwal Dev (India, 659), 7. Ryuki Matsuda (Japan, 679), 8. Manish Sureshkumar (India, 701).
