When buying an electric scooter, customers look beyond range. How many years the battery will last and what warranty it carries are also major concerns. The Ather Rizta is being talked about for this reason. The scooter offers an IDC range of up to 159 km, and with an extended plan its battery can be covered for 10 years or 1 lakh km. The option is drawing interest among those who plan to run a scooter for a long time on daily commutes.

On the motor and performance, the Rizta has a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that produces a maximum power of 4.3kW and torque of 22Nm. The scooter reaches 0 to 40kmph in just 4.7 seconds, and its top speed is 80kmph. This performance is adequate for daily travel in city traffic.

The battery and motor have an IP67 rating, meaning they are protected against dust and water. The scooter has 34 litres of under-seat storage. Its kerb weight is 125kg, seat height 780mm and ground clearance 150mm.

For a comfortable ride, it has telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. The brakes are a 200mm disc at the front and a drum brake with CBS at the rear. The scooter has 12-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

The Rizta comes with a standard warranty of 5 years or 60,000 km, which includes a guarantee that battery health will stay above 70 per cent. With the Eight70 plan, the cover can be extended to 8 years or 80,000 km. A premium plan offers cover of 10 years or 1 lakh km.

The Ather Rizta S starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,21,999, while the Rizta Z starts at Rs 1,36,999. Depending on battery and configuration, the price goes up to Rs 1,59,378.
