Ather Energy's electric scooter sales cross 8 lakh units, driven by the Rizta
Ather Energy has become the fourth Indian company to sell over 8 lakh electric two-wheelers, with the family scooter Rizta a major contributor.
Ather Energy has crossed another major milestone in India's electric two-wheeler market. The company's total retail sales have gone past 8 lakh units. According to vehicle registration data, Ather touched the figure on September 28, 2026, making it the fourth company in India to sell more than 8 lakh electric two-wheelers.
The most striking aspect of the data is Ather's recent pace. Between January 2025 and September 28, 2026, the company sold about 4.75 lakh electric scooters. That means roughly 59% of its total sales of 8 lakh so far came in this period alone. The family electric scooter Rizta played an important role.
Ather was initially identified with the sporty 450 series and customers who like technology. The company entered the family scooter segment after the Rizta was launched. In May 2026, Ather said the Rizta had crossed 3 lakh units in sales in two years. In FY2026, the Rizta accounted for about 76% of the company's total sales.
The gain is also visible in the FY2026 results. The company recorded sales of 2,62,942 units, 69% more than the previous year. By March 2026, its Experience Centres had grown from 351 to 700, while its service network reached about 548 centres.
In August 2026, Ather recorded 28,856 registrations. The company's share of the electric two-wheeler market at the time was about 15.7%. That month, 22,586 units of the Rizta were dispatched, along with 6,891 units of the 450 series and 217 units of the Konark. This shows how important the Rizta is to Ather's volumes.
The company now has high hopes for the Konark. It was launched on August 29, 2026, with a starting price of Rs 99,999. Depending on the variant, its claimed IDC range is 100 km to 200 km. With a metal body, a steel unibody chassis, 14-inch wheels and longer-travel suspension, Ather has positioned it as a distinct offering for the commuter segment.
Ather's next goal is not just to increase sales but to reach new customers. If the Konark can draw customers moving from petrol scooters to electric ones, the company's reach in the market could grow further.
