Daily travel in the city, traffic and rising petrol costs are pushing many people towards electric scooters. Running and maintenance costs are lower, and charging can be done at home. For daily commutes, an e-scooter can therefore be a sound buy. Several models are on the market, but three scooters from Bajaj, Hero and Ola stand out on budget and range. Their ranges run from 113 km to 301 km.

First is the Bajaj Chetak C2501. It has a 2.5kWh lithium-ion battery and is claimed to deliver an IDC range of up to 113 km on a single charge. Its top speed is 60 kmph. A full charge with the 750W off-board charger takes about 3 hours 45 minutes. The ex-showroom price is Rs 1,04,802. The scooter is compact and simple to ride, which could make it a practical option for everyday city use.

Second is the Hero Vida VX2 Go, which comes with two battery options, 2.2kWh and 3.4kWh, priced at Rs 99,490 and Rs 1,20,990 ex-showroom respectively. The 2.2kWh battery gives a range of 93 km, while the 3.4kWh battery gives an ARAI range of 146 km. The Fixed Battery variant starts at Rs 1.13 lakh. Features include 33.2 litres of under-seat storage, a 4.3-inch digital console, Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Third is the Ola S1 Z, a good choice for those who want more range on a budget. It comes with 3.1kWh and 5.1kWh batteries, priced at Rs 79,999 and Rs 99,999 ex-showroom respectively. The 3.1kWh battery is claimed to give an IDC range of 179 km and the 5.1kWh battery 301 km. It also offers 34 litres of storage, Easy Park, reverse mode, normal and eco riding modes, CBS, and telescopic front and twin-shock rear suspension. It is particularly attractive for buyers who want both long range and a low price.

Overall, the three scooters offer different battery options to suit different budgets. The Ola S1 Z, with its 301 km IDC range and Rs 99,999 price, draws the most attention, while the Bajaj Chetak C2501 and Hero Vida VX2 Go come with their own features for daily commutes.
