Apple's new smart home device has AI-powered Siri and home controls, comes in tabletop and wall-mount models, and is open for pre-order.
Apple has unveiled its new smart home device, the Apple Home Hub. It has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, and the company has equipped it with AI-powered Siri and smart controls for the home.
The device can be used to play music and watch videos, and to make FaceTime calls. It can also control the other smart devices in a home, so a single screen handles several tasks.
The company has launched it in two models. One is a tabletop model that can be placed on a table or any other surface. The other is a wall-mount model that is fixed to a wall.
The tabletop model will be available in four colours: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mount model comes in only two, silver and space grey.
Both models are priced at Rs 39,900, so the price is the same whether a buyer picks the tabletop or the wall-mount version. Customers can pre-order the device through the company's official website and the Apple Store app. Pre-booking has begun and sales will start on November 13.
The 7-inch Liquid Retina display comes with True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the screen's colours to the ambient light. The screen's maximum brightness is 500 nits, while its minimum brightness is 0.3 nits.
The device is powered by the A18 chip. For video calls it has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, which keeps the person speaking in the middle of the frame during a call.
Overall, the device is Apple's attempt to bring music, video, calling and control of smart home gadgets onto one screen. Pre-orders are open now, and the device will be on sale from November 13.
