The 85-year-old NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) president went home on Saturday after doctors discharged him, three days after he was admitted.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar returned home on Saturday. He had been undergoing treatment for a chest and respiratory infection at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Doctors discharged him and he then went home.
Pawar, 85, had been admitted to the hospital three days earlier. He had a persistent cough and felt discomfort while breathing, and was admitted for that reason.
The medical team treating him said his condition had improved. The team said he was stable and allowed him to leave the hospital only after that.
During his stay, several political leaders and prominent figures from the business world came to enquire about his health. Those who met him included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, NCP leader Praful Patel and minister Chhagan Bhujbal. Congress MLA Vishwajeet Kadam and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut also met him.
Industrialist Gautam Adani also visited the hospital and spoke to Pawar while he was under treatment. Those who called on him thus included leaders from different parties as well as an industrialist.
After his discharge, Pawar is now back at his residence, which is close to Breach Candy Hospital. Political colleagues across parties had been watching his health closely. Many leaders expressed concern and wished him well.
Before he was discharged, the medical team had said his condition was stable.
