The NCP (SP) chief and former Union agriculture minister was admitted for tests and is expected to be discharged in a day or two, family members said.

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar, a former Union agriculture minister, is in Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, where he was taken after feeling unwell. His family and party say the situation is under control and that he is undergoing tests.

Party MLA Rohit Pawar went to the hospital as soon as he heard. He met Pawar, asked after his health and then spoke with the treating doctors. He later told people that Pawar Saheb was well and that there was nothing to worry about. According to him, the admission is for routine tests, and the doctors have asked Pawar to rest because he has been travelling without a break. Rohit Pawar said Pawar is likely to go home in a day or two, once all the tests are done.

Pawar's office said he will stay and rest at the hospital for the next two days. Further decisions will be made after the tests are complete and will follow medical advice.

MP Supriya Sule, his daughter, posted an update on social media on November 2, 2026. She wrote that her father had been admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic because of a cough, that his tests were in progress and that all his health parameters were stable. She thanked everyone who had expressed concern and sent good wishes, and said she would keep everyone informed. Medical sources said he developed a cough and a feeling of weakness, and was admitted on the advice of doctors.

Dr Parvez Grant, head of the hospital, gave a slightly different reason. He said Pawar was admitted for a routine check-up and because of pain in the lungs.

Pawar had been touring drought-hit parts of Solapur, Dharashiv, Beed and nearby areas. On Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, he was in Solapur district, where he visited Tulshi village in Madha taluka and Dudhali village in Pandharpur taluka. In Tulshi he reviewed the drought situation, spoke with farmers, listened to their difficulties and promised to take these up with the government.

His programme for Monday was called off. Reports differ on why. One account says the tour was shortened because of his health and that he returned to Pune from Solapur. Another says it was cancelled citing bad weather, though it is being said his health had worsened. Karmala MLA Narayan Patil of the Sharad Pawar faction said heavy rain in the Baramati and Bhigwan areas the previous night was the reason. Patil said Pawar will inspect the drought situation in Karmala taluka after Diwali, and that he himself had gone to Karmala after meeting Pawar to prepare for the visit.

The hospital, the family and the party have said the next steps will depend on what the doctors advise once the tests are complete.
