Human legs found in sack in Pimple Gurav; friend held for murder of Anil Khade

A gruesome discovery has been reported from the Pimple Gurav area of Pune. A sack lying by the roadside was found to contain human legs severed at the knee, causing alarm across the neighbourhood.

Sanitation workers Krishna Lot and Omkar Kale were collecting garbage as usual when they noticed a suspicious sack with bloodstains on it by the road. When they opened it, they found human legs inside.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed and stepped up the investigation. The biggest challenge was identifying the victim, as the body's head and face were missing. Even so, police were able to establish his identity at about 11.30 pm. The dead man is Anil Khade, 50.

Intensive questioning revealed that a very close friend of Khade was behind the killing. According to police, Vishnu Kumbhar killed Khade after a quarrel while drunk. Police have arrested Kumbhar in the case.

Police also said that, to destroy evidence after the murder, the accused cut up the body. The torso was thrown in Lane No. 1 of Vinayaknagar in New Sangvi, while both legs were dumped in front of Lane No. 3 in Srinagar.

Police said a case of vehicle theft is already registered against Kumbhar.

The brutal and sensational crime has shaken Pune and created an atmosphere of fear among residents. Police said further investigation into the case is continuing, while people in the area are still in shock.
