Rs 78.94 crore loan waiver reaches 12,886 farmers in Pune district

Farmers in Pune district are set to get relief from the burden of debt. Under the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmer Loan Waiver Scheme-2026, 12,886 eligible farmers in the district are receiving benefits worth Rs 78.94 crore. The state government is crediting the waiver amount to the beneficiaries' accounts, which will ease the burden of outstanding crop loans for eligible farmers.

The cost of production in farming keeps rising. Natural disasters and uncertainty over crop yields add to it. These factors are creating financial difficulties for farmers. The help from the government's scheme will therefore prove important for them. The amount that eligible beneficiaries in the district receive will help reduce the burden of outstanding loans.

The scheme is being implemented through an online computer system. MahaIT has built a portal on which banks have uploaded details of outstanding loan accounts. After computer-based scrutiny, lists of eligible farmers have been released for Aadhaar authentication. So far, 25,82,827 eligible farmers across the state have been included in four lists. The waiver amount is being credited in phases to the accounts of those beneficiaries whose Aadhaar authentication is complete.

The state government began the scheme under a government order dated June 2, 2026. Crop loans disbursed between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2025 and outstanding on September 30, 2025 are considered eligible. Loans that had not been repaid by March 31, 2026 are also eligible. Restructured and re-restructured loans are included too. Eligible farmers are being given a waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Details of the eligible farmer beneficiaries in Pune district and the waiver amounts due to them were released on November 4, 2026. This will let farmers check their eligibility and the amount they will receive. The benefit for the district's 12,886 farmers is expected to ease the financial stress of debt. It is hoped the waiver will also help farmers plan their finances.
