Laxmi Andekar, an NCP leader, had been held under MCOCA in the September 2025 killing of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar; the release is subject to conditions set by the court.
The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Pune corporator and NCP leader Laxmi Andekar. The case concerns the murder of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar in September 2025. Andekar had been in custody in the case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Andekar is associated with the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar. She had approached the courts several times seeking release. Her pleas were heard in the Pune Sessions Court and the High Court, and the High Court's latest order has now given her relief.
The case also drew attention because Andekar contested the Pune Municipal Corporation election while in jail and won. However, winning the election did not change her custody status. She remained in custody until the High Court's bail order came.
Ayush Komkar was attacked in a parking area in Pune in September 2025. According to details of the case, the attackers were waiting for him. They first fired at him and then attacked him with sharp weapons. Ayush died on the spot.
Investigators linked the killing to the earlier murder of NCP corporator Vanraj Andekar, who was shot dead in Nana Peth on September 1, 2024. Ayush was Vanraj's nephew.
Police investigation found that the September 2025 attack was allegedly part of a revenge plot linked to Vanraj's murder. According to the police probe, Ayush's father was suspected of having a role in the earlier killing. Ayush's grandfather Bandu Andekar, described as the leader of the Andekar gang, is accused of plotting the later attack.
Laxmi Andekar was arrested in the Ayush Komkar murder case and proceeded against under MCOCA. The High Court's decision has secured her release from custody in the case, but the release is subject to conditions imposed by the court.
