Central Railway's Pune division has fixed separate routes for arriving and departing passengers and installed more screening equipment to handle growing crowds.
Passengers at Pune railway station will now have to use designated routes to enter and leave. The railway administration has tightened security and crowd management arrangements. The Pune division of Central Railway has redrawn passenger movement at the station's main entry points and installed additional screening equipment in view of the growing crowds.
Under the new arrangement, five baggage scanners and 19 door frame metal detectors (DFMD) have been installed. The equipment is meant to strengthen screening at the station so that security personnel can check passengers and their luggage better. The five scanners are for checking passengers' bags and other belongings, while the 19 metal detector frames have been placed to make security checks easier.
The revised plan covers three entry points: the main entrance, Chhatri Gate and the Tadiwala Road side. Separate routes have been fixed for arriving and departing passengers at all three. The aim is to reduce crowding, especially during busy travel hours.
At Chhatri Gate, a separate entry route has been created for passengers heading to platforms 1 to 6. There is a separate exit route for those leaving the station. This will keep arriving and departing crowds from colliding head-on at the same spot.
The administration has closed all unauthorised entry points. Passengers must now enter only through the designated gates and use the designated exit when leaving.
Railway officials have asked passengers to cooperate with security personnel during checks and to follow the instructions given at entry and exit points. The administration expects the new layout and the additional screening facilities to make passenger movement more orderly and improve monitoring across the station.
