A policeman has been detained on the allegation of crashing his car into the gate of the official residence of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. The detained policeman has been identified as Amol Bhise. Officials confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening. Bhise is alleged to have rammed his car into the gate of the Commissioner's bungalow while drunk. The bungalow is in the Cantonment area of Pune. The car is said to be a Hyundai, with registration number MH 12 WZ 4056. Police detained him on the spot.
Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the constable was drunk at the time of the incident. He also said Bhise has a poor disciplinary record and his name has figured in several earlier cases. According to the Commissioner, Bhise was suspended in 2025 and taken back into service in 2026.
The intoxicated constable is also said to have created a commotion outside the bungalow. He is reported to have kept hurling abuse and demanding answers for about half an hour.
Police said Bhise is also allegedly struggling with mental health problems. A case has been registered against him at Koregaon Park police station, and further action against him has begun.

Such an incident at the Commissioner's residence is rare, and the matter has become a talking point in the police force. All that has emerged so far is that Bhise has been detained and a case registered at the station. Further action is under way.
