Pune CP Amitesh Kumar suspends four more policemen, eight action taken in two days

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has acted tough for the second day running. He suspended four policemen, including one officer, in separate cases of negligence in duty and attempts to extort money. In two days, a total of eight personnel have been suspended for different reasons, causing a stir in the police department.

The first case relates to Bundgarden police station. Sub-Inspector Amol Dhumal and Police Havildar Tushar Alhat have been suspended. A case has been registered at Bundgarden police against a hotel under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025. Sub-Inspector Dhumal was investigating the case, while Havildar Alhat works as his assistant. The case, linked to reporting the stay of foreign nationals, had five accused, from staff to the GM (general manager).

It is said that during the investigation, hotel manager Tejas Dhulbulu came to meet them at the police post. At that time there were five accused. To reduce the number of accused and to have only one person arrested, Sub-Inspector Dhumal, without saying anything to the manager, held up two fingers. He then said that his assistant Alhat would speak to the manager. It later emerged that, according to Alhat, the two fingers meant paying Rs 2 lakh. A complaint about this reached senior officers, after which both were suspended.

The second case involves a demand for Rs 5,000. Police Constable Baburao Popat Dhole, posted at police headquarters, is accused of stopping a container driver on the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway while in uniform and demanding Rs 5,000. A case has been registered in this connection at Warje Malwadi police, and Dhole has been arrested. P. R. Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police at headquarters, ordered his suspension.

The third case is from the Manjri area. Police Havildar Rahul Chaudhari of Laxminagar police station has been suspended after a case was registered of a minor being beaten and seriously injured. Chilumula Rajanikanth, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Zone 4, issued the order.

Thus, eight officers and personnel have been acted against within two days.
