PMC to give 665 sq m in Dhankawadi to MahaMetro for Padmavati metro station
The Pune Municipal Corporation's City Improvement Committee has cleared the land transfer for the Padmavati station on the Swargate-Katraj underground corridor.
Pune, November 6, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will hand over 665 sq m of land in Dhankawadi to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro) to build the Padmavati metro station on the Swargate-Katraj underground metro corridor.
Standing Committee chairman Shrinath Bhimale said the PMC's City Improvement Committee has approved the proposal. It has now been recommended that the proposal be sent to the general body for final approval. The committee met on November 3.
The land has been valued at Rs 1.15 crore. Twice that amount, Rs 2.31 crore, will be adjusted against the corporation's liabilities.
The station will come up on land reserved for a truck terminus in Dhankawadi, under Survey No. 19 A/4 A and B. MahaMetro had approached the PMC seeking land for the project. The metro agency will be given plot numbers 8, 9 and 10.
Under the arrangement, the existing leaseholders of two plots will also be rehabilitated. Syed Sherali Syed Mehboob, the original leaseholder of plot number 8, will get an alternative plot of 225 sq m at Kondhwa Budruk. The heirs of the late Satish Shivajirao Patil, the original leaseholder of plot number 10, will be given a 220 sq m plot there.
The case of plot number 9 is different from these two. The PMC found that its leaseholder, Ravindra Chhotusingh Nivate, transferred the land onward without the corporation's permission and also changed its sanctioned use.
This is a violation of the lease agreement, so the committee has recommended that the full premium amount be recovered, the lease agreement be cancelled and the PMC take back possession of the plot.
Once the general body gives its final approval, the process of handing over all three plots to MahaMetro with ownership rights will move ahead. This will clear the way for construction of the Padmavati metro station.
