Mubina alleges a lawyer hit her and tried to choke her on Wednesday, and that Chaturshringi police did not take her complaint. Neither side's response has been received.
A transgender woman named Mubina in Pune has accused a lawyer of assaulting her and trying to choke her. According to her, it happened after a quarrel over car parking on Wednesday, November 4.
Mubina also says she went to Chaturshringi police station seeking help, but police there refused to register her complaint.
Mubina has named the lawyer as Virdhaval Dattatreya Shilimkar. She alleges that Shilimkar beat her and tried to choke her by grabbing her by the neck.
According to Mubina's statement, she had gone to the Family Planning Association for laser treatment. An argument over parking began at that time. She alleges that Shilimkar raised his hand against her during the argument.
Mubina claims that Shilimkar then sat in his car and mocked her for being transgender. She says he kept clapping to taunt her and said that transgender people belong in a slum. Mubina also showed scratch marks on her body, which she says were caused by the assault.
After the incident, Mubina went to Chaturshringi police station to file a complaint and demand action against Shilimkar. She alleges that police did not accept her complaint.
A video related to the case has also surfaced. In it, Mubina is seen asking policemen standing nearby why her complaint is not being registered. She is also heard asking why no action is being taken against the man despite the assault.
These are all allegations made by Mubina. No information has so far come from Shilimkar or Chaturshringi police about the alleged assault. Their side is awaited.
