Passengers on Line 3 can no longer take bicycles inside trains, with operators citing passenger safety and convenience in a public advisory.
Pune, November 5, 2026: Passengers travelling on Punerī Metro Line 3 will no longer be able to carry their bicycles inside trains. The operators have issued a public advisory, citing passenger safety and convenience.
In a statement, Punerī Metro Line 3 officials said bicycles are not allowed inside the train so that passengers' journeys remain safe, easy and hassle-free. They also asked passengers to follow the prescribed travel rules and cooperate with metro staff so that everyone gets a comfortable journey.
The advisory comes at a time when the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro corridor is serving commuters travelling between the IT hub and areas of Pune.
The 23.2-km elevated corridor runs from Maan in Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it virtually on November 3, and services opened to passengers on November 4. It is also called the Pink Line. It has 23 stations and cost about Rs 8,313 crore to build.
The bicycle restriction is significant also because the corridor places emphasis on improving last-mile connectivity. Separate cycle tracks, wider footpaths and arrangements for pedestrians are being built around the metro stations.
The operators have once again urged passengers to follow the guidelines and cooperate with staff so that operations run smoothly and other passengers face no inconvenience.
The advisory applies specifically to Punerī Metro Line 3. It should not be read as a general ban on bicycles across the entire Pune Metro network, as the existing Maha Metro network has its own separate arrangements for carrying bicycles.
