A married woman died in Yawal on November 2 in what police allege was strangulation by her husband; both he and his father are in police custody until the 7th.

The suspicious death of a married woman in Yawal town has left the area in grief. The deceased has been identified as Mashirabi Fardeen Khan. Her parental home was in Surat, Gujarat. Her husband, Fardeen Khan, is her maternal cousin. She is said to have married him against opposition because she was in love with him. The couple had been married for only ten months.

After the wedding, Mashirabi lived with her husband in a rented house in the Ayeshanagar area of Yawal. On November 2, everyone else in the household had gone to a wedding function in the town, so only the husband and wife were at home at the time.

According to the allegation, the two had a heated argument over suspicion about her character. It is said that in anger Mashirabi slapped her husband Fardeen. Fardeen then lost control, it is alleged. He pushed her, struck her hard on the side of the face, knocked her down, sat on her chest and throttled her, according to the allegation. She is said to have died on the spot. The incident took place in an inner room of the house, and the house was in disarray.

The in-laws then phoned Mashirabi's father, who lives in Surat, and informed him. He rushed to the rented house in Ayeshanagar, Yawal. He grew suspicious on seeing his daughter's body, as marks of strangulation were clearly visible on her neck.

After the incident, the accused husband, Fardeen Khan, was trying to flee. As soon as police received information, a team led by Police Inspector Ranganath Dharbale acted swiftly and caught Fardeen near Sakli village. He has been arrested. His father, Arif Khan, who is the deceased woman's father-in-law, has also been taken into police custody.

Both were produced in court. The judge remanded both accused in police custody until the 7th.

The marriage, made out of love and against opposition, ended within just ten months over suspicion about her character. Sorrow and regret are being expressed in Yawal town as well as in and around Surat.
