Vietnam's electric vehicle maker VinFast is preparing to expand into India's electric two-wheeler market. The company has signed letters of intent (LOI) with its partners to open more than 50 dealerships across 15 states and Union Territories. The proposed network will span 34 cities.

The agreements were signed with Indian dealer partners on October 8, 2026, at the company's manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam. The company entered India's electric car market in 2025. It now wants to move beyond four-wheelers and establish itself in the electric two-wheeler segment as well.

The company will not focus only on selling electric scooters and motorcycles. Charging facilities and after-sales service will also be emphasised. According to Anurag Saxena, CEO of VinFast India E-Scooters, starting work with more than 50 dealer partners in 34 cities of 15 states and Union Territories is an important milestone in the company's expansion. The company plans to strengthen its charging infrastructure and after-sales service so that customers get proper support even after buying a vehicle.

The proposed network includes Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Rajasthan in north India. The company is also planning showrooms in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In western India, the expansion will cover Maharashtra and Gujarat, while in the south it will cover Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. In eastern India, West Bengal and Odisha are also on the list.

According to figures provided by the company, 2.14 crore two-wheelers were registered in India in the financial year 2025-26, of which electric two-wheelers accounted for 6.54%. For this reason, the company believes there is room for growth for electric scooters and bikes in India. Several companies already compete in this segment, so VinFast will have to focus on price, range, charging and its service network.

For now, the agreements are for a proposed dealership network, and it should not be assumed that all the showrooms have opened. The company is expected to clarify later when sales will actually begin, which models will come to India and what they will cost.
