Anandrao Patil, Additional Secretary in the Union higher education department, urged young people to use knowledge and research-based technology for nation-building.
Young people should use the knowledge they have gained and the technology born of research for the constructive building of the country, Anandrao Patil, Additional Secretary in the Department of Higher Education under the Union Ministry of Education, said. He pointed out that many institutions, such as COEP Technological University and the IIITs, with a long tradition of knowledge, research and ethical values, are working across the country.
COEP Technological University and IIIT Allahabad, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, are jointly holding the conference. The fifth CVMI-2026 international conference is being held from October 30 to November 1, 2026, with special support from IEEE Pune and the Uttar Pradesh section. Patil was speaking at its inauguration, which he performed.
Patil said technology is advancing rapidly, so it cannot be said with certainty today what changes it will bring in the coming years, in technology and in our lives. Even so, using it in a just manner is the need of the hour. He said technology must be used to help all living beings, not to destroy humankind.
Prof. Bhim Singh, chairman of the board of governors of IIITA Prayagraj, said real development will come if technology is used to bring the prices of products within the reach of ordinary people. Vinayak Pai, chairman of the board of governors of COEP Technological University, said the practical application of technology should not be confined to the glamorous industrial world but should also focus on basic sectors such as agriculture.
Prof. Shrinivas Singh, director of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM) in Gwalior, said people should not depend entirely on technology but use it as a helper.
Prof. Sunil Bhirud, Vice-Chancellor of COEP Technological University, said the conference received 1,000 papers from across the country, of which about 100 research papers have been selected.
Prof. Mukul S. Sutaone, director of IIITA, the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Prayagraj, was also present at the inauguration along with Patil, Pai, Bhim Singh, Bhirud and Shrinivas Singh.
