Massive fire at plastic packaging godown in Nagpur's Lakadganj small industries complex

Nagpur, Nov 1: A massive fire broke out on Sunday in a godown storing plastic packaging material in the Lakadganj small industries complex in Nagpur, causing panic in the area. The godown held a large quantity of plastic raw material, and the fire took a fierce form within a short time.

Thick plumes of black smoke rising from the site are visible from a distance. Given the severity of the fire, six to seven fire tenders of the fire department reached the spot. Firefighters are continuously spraying water to bring the blaze under control.

The godown, which belongs to a plastic packaging business, held plastic raw material in large quantities. The raw material made the fire spread rapidly and turn fierce within a short time.

Several small plastic-related industries and factories operate in the Lakadganj small industries complex. The possibility of the fire spreading to nearby industrial units has raised concern. The fire department's first priority at present is to stop the fire from reaching the neighbouring companies.

Because of the large amount of plastic material inside the godown, firefighters are finding it very difficult to douse the flames. Efforts are also on to take out the finished goods and manufactured material stored in the godown.

The fire department's operation to control the fire is continuing. Teams are working to bring the fire under control and stop it from spreading to nearby factories. The cause of the fire and the extent of the loss can be assessed only after it is put out, so it is not yet clear what caused it or how much damage has been done.
