Free sets of books have been distributed to 450 students of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) schools who are appearing for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) examination. The sets were provided by the Rotary Club of Pune South and handed out by Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure.
Each student received a set of three books worth Rs 1,000. The set includes a Mental Ability Test (MAT), a Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and ten question papers covering five practice examinations. All the books were prepared by experts in competitive examinations.
The event was held on October 30 at the Sharadchandra Pawar E-Learning School in Wadgaon. Rotary president Vinod Agarwal, project coordinator Hemant Walimbe and secretary Sanjeev Mahajan were present. Several other dignitaries also attended, including Sunanda Wakhare, administrative officer of the PMC education department.
The Rotary Club has been running the initiative for the past three years. President Vinod Agarwal said the target for the 2026-27 academic year is to give these sets to 5,500 students in Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Ahilyanagar districts.
