A protest was held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Students' Federation of India (SFI) took part.

During the protest, the activists alleged irregularities in the electoral process. They also said the Chief Election Commissioner had helped the Central government, and on that ground demanded that Gyanesh Kumar step down from his post.

The protesters accused Gyanesh Kumar of "vote chori" (vote theft). They claimed he had helped the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Questioning the fairness of the electoral process, they said the Chief Election Commissioner should quit so that people's trust in the democratic system is maintained.

Activists at Azad Maidan held banners reading "Gyanu tu toh gaya". The protesters used the slogan to express their anger against the Chief Election Commissioner. They also carried pictures of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and the tricolour. They raised the issues of democracy, the Constitution and transparency in the electoral process.

The protesters said the Election Commission's role is considered extremely important in a democratic system. They said any question raised about the electoral process should be investigated impartially and answered with a clear and transparent explanation. In view of the allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner, DYFI and SFI activists demanded his resignation and registered their protest from Azad Maidan.

The protest at Azad Maidan centred on the transparency of the electoral process, the Constitution and democracy. The protesters' demand was one: that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign.
