Uttar Pradesh's Simran has won gold in both the 100 metres and 200 metres at the Asian Para Games 2026, currently under way in Japan. She finished first in both races, taking two gold medals at the same Games.

Simran is from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. A para athlete, she has already received the Arjuna Award. Her double win at the fifth Asian Para Games in Japan has brought honour to the country and to Uttar Pradesh.

Congratulations are coming in from the sporting world and political circles. It is said that she reached this level after overcoming extremely difficult circumstances, and that her success is becoming a fresh inspiration for young sportspersons in the country. It is also being said that the Uttar Pradesh government has been taking new initiatives in sport, and Simran's win is being cited as an example.

Simran is not only an athlete. She is also in the administrative service in Uttar Pradesh and currently works as District Panchayati Raj Officer in the state government's Panchayati Raj department.

Congratulating her, Dhirendra Singh Sachan, director of the Panchayati Raj department, said, "Simran has made India proud with her determination, hard work, discipline and unshakeable resolve. Her success is a big inspiration not only for sportspersons but for all the young people of the country."

Sachan has clearly directed that special arrangements be made to welcome her in honour of this historic achievement. The plan is that when Simran returns home, she will be welcomed with great enthusiasm at the international airport in New Delhi. From there she will be taken to Lucknow, where she will be welcomed again.

It is a matter of great pride for the whole department that an administrative officer has brought glory to the country at the international level in sport. It is hoped that the grand welcome by the administration on her return will inspire other young sportspersons and government employees in the state to aim high in sport.
