The Tata Nexon, a popular SUV in the Indian automobile market, is preparing to arrive in a new generation. The 2027 Tata Nexon is likely to get a new design, a modern cabin, advanced safety features and a new platform. A major update may also come to the SUV's electric version.

The upcoming model is reportedly codenamed 'Project Garud' within the company. However, the company has not yet made all the details public officially.

The biggest highlight of the new Nexon is expected to be the new Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture, or ATLAS, platform. It is said to be an improved form of the existing X1 architecture. It has reportedly been designed for vehicles from 3.9 metres to 4.6 metres in length and for different body styles.

The architecture is expected to support petrol, diesel and CNG powertrains as well as future electric technology and connected-car features. The new Nexon could therefore show improvements in technology and driving experience.

The overall size of the new Nexon is likely to remain the same as the current model, but there could be big changes to the front design. It may get a new front grille, slim LED DRLs near the bonnet, a newly designed bumper and split LED projector headlamps.

A square radar sensor is fitted on the front bumper of a model spotted during testing. This suggests that the upcoming SUV could get a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The technology can assist the driver in some driving conditions. Which ADAS features will actually be offered will become clear only after an official announcement.

The interior of the 2027 Nexon could get a new colour theme, premium leatherette upholstery and updated trims. Features such as ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a digital driver display, a larger touchscreen infotainment system and dual-zone climate control are also expected.

On safety, the car could get 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and ADAS features. But without safety rating tests and official information, it cannot be said with certainty that the new model will get a 5-star rating.

The new-generation petrol and diesel models are likely to retain the current engine options. These could include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a petrol-CNG option and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Gearbox options are said to include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed DCT.

The upcoming Nexon EV could also be important for those looking to buy an electric vehicle. The new model is likely to get a larger battery pack, which is estimated to give a range of more than 500 km on a single charge. However, this is only an expected range. The company has not yet disclosed the battery capacity or the official driving range.

Overall, significant changes are expected in the 2027 Tata Nexon in design, cabin, safety and electric range. Customers are now waiting for the company's official announcement and the launch schedule.
