A private wireman and Shiv Sena (UBT) Pimprala unit chief died of an electric shock at work in Jalgaon, while another man died in a crash on the Paldhi-Tarsod bypass.

Yogesh alias Bhaiyya Wagh, a private wireman, died after receiving a severe electric shock while doing electrical fitting work in a house in the Pimprala area of Jalgaon city. He was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jalgaon, where doctors declared him dead.

Wagh was the Pimprala area unit chief (vibhagpramukh) of the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction). On hearing of his death, his relatives and Shiv Sainiks crowded the hospital.

Wagh had gone to work in the morning as usual. The news of his death in the afternoon came as a great shock to his family and local Shiv Sena workers. Gajanan Malpure, former city chief of the Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction), expressed grief over the incident.

A similar tragedy occurred in Bhusawal on Tuesday, when a farmer couple died. Preparations for their daughter's engagement were under way at home when the parents died of an electric shock. On Wednesday, the death of Wagh, too, from an electric shock has caused widespread grief.

Meanwhile, accidents continue on the Paldhi-Tarsod bypass on the outskirts of Jalgaon city. Another young man died in an accident there. An Eicher goods vehicle hit a two-wheeler hard on the Paldhi railway overbridge, killing Yogesh Gajmal Rakshe. The number of deaths in accidents on this route since the bypass caved in has reached 13.

Rakshe worked as a labourer at a fertiliser warehouse in Avhane. He was riding home on his two-wheeler when the Eicher coming from the opposite direction hit it on the Paldhi railway overbridge. Seriously injured, he was admitted to the Government Medical College hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Traffic on the bypass was closed on July 30 after the embankment of the Asoda bridge caved in, and heavy vehicles were diverted through the city. Since July, 13 people have died in 25 accidents on this route.

Rakshe had been married only three months ago, and his death has plunged the family into grief. Police have detained the Eicher driver, Dharmendra Pravin Singh Goyal, after the accident.
