Jalgaon police have foiled a suspected plot to carry out a triple murder and trigger a gang war in Bhusawal city. Police have arrested five sharpshooters on suspicion of having taken a contract worth Rs 35 lakh to kill Mithun Barse, Krish Barse and Karan.

According to police, the plan also included looting the gold the victims were wearing after killing them. Bunty Pathrod and Shiv Pathrod are alleged to have given the contract for the killings. The investigation has found that Rs 5 lakh of the agreed Rs 35 lakh had already been paid as an advance.

Police said an inter-district gang had planned to kill Mithun Barse and Krish Barse around midnight on October 11 in the Kanjarwada area of Jalgaon city and loot the gold they were wearing. The plan was to murder the two brothers and take their gold, police said.

On receiving information about the plot, Ramanandnagar police laid a trap in the Pimprala area. Five suspects travelling in an Innova car were taken into custody. A search of the group turned up a large cache of weapons.

The arrested suspects have been named as Khushal Gajanan Borse, Sandeep Baban Londhe, Raju alias Omkar Bhadarge, Arvind Vijay Kamble and Sonu Mahendra Jaiswal. Police seized four country-made pistols, nine cartridges, sharp weapons and other material from them.

Police also recovered two country-made pistols, two cartridges and 62 grams of MD drugs from a rented room at Umala.

Bunty Pathrod, Shiv Pathrod, Abhishek Goyar and Ravi Holkar have also been named accused in the case. These four, along with the five arrested suspects, are now within the scope of the police investigation.

Police are investigating exactly how the plot was planned, from whom and through whom the contract money was paid, and who else the gang is linked to. The investigation is still under way.
