Security arrangements have been tightened across Delhi in view of the ongoing protest in the city. More than 23,000 personnel of Delhi Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at Jantar Mantar to maintain law and order.
The impact of the protest is not limited to the roads. Several trains to and from Delhi have been cancelled. A decision has also been taken to keep 56 metro stations temporarily closed.
A heavy police presence has been put in place in sensitive areas of Delhi. The gates of more than 50 metro stations have been kept shut for security reasons. Commuters have been advised to check the latest metro and traffic situation before leaving home.
The railways too have offered no relief. Several premium trains arriving in Delhi from Kanpur, Bihar, Jaipur and Itarsi have been cancelled.
Giving top priority to children's safety, several well-known schools in the city have cancelled offline classes. These schools have asked students to study from home.
At Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, classes for Classes 6 to 12 will be held online on October 10. The inauguration of the school's "Activity Week" has been postponed for now.
Raghubir Singh Junior Modern School has rescheduled its parent-teacher meeting (PTM) in the interest of students' safety. A new date will be announced once the situation returns to normal.
At Mehta Vidyalaya of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan too, Saturday's sports practice has been cancelled because of the protest near Jantar Mantar. Extra classes for Classes 9 to 12 will also not be held.
Outside Delhi, schools have been declared closed in Prayagraj, Hamirpur and Hathras in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Sarvapitri Amavasya.
Overall, the protest at Jantar Mantar is visibly affecting Delhi's security arrangements, trains, metro and schools.
